Spencer Long will reportedly sign with the New York Jets when free agency officially starts at 4pm today. The Redskins had no plans of re-signing their former 3rd round pick from 2014. Long started games at guard to begin his career with the Redskins, but became a starter at center following Kory Lichtensteiger's injury in 2016. The Jets plan to play Long at center.
The Redskins drafted Chase Roullier in the 6th round this year, and plan to move forward with him at center. Roullier started 7 games last season due to a quad injury that ended Long's season. Roullier was also injured and missed 3 games after hand surgery, but returned to start the final 3 games.
