The 5 O’Clock Club: Playing GM - DIY - You build your own 2018 Redskins roster via free agency & the draft

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere…

The 5 o’clock club aims to provide a forum for reader-driven discussion at a time of day when there isn’t much NFL news being published. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below.

Inspired by Mark Tyler

Mark Tyler recently mused about what he would do if he were the Redskins GM for the next 4 months.

I thought it might be good to give readers a chance to do something similar, on a limited basis.

Build your own Redskins roster for 2018

I’m going to offer you the chance to participate in a structured exercise.

  1. Free Agency - You get $26m in cap money, and you can add any number of veteran players from the nearly-60 free agents on the list provided below. You can’t sign any player not on the list, and you have to use the 2018 cap numbers I have listed for each player without going over $26m.
  2. Draft - You get two draft picks, and can select any two players from the 40 draftable players on the list provided, with two limitations — you can only choose ONE player marked “1st round only and you also cannot draft any player not on the list.

Let us know your decisions in the comments section.

Here’s an example of what a plan might look like if you posted it in the comments:
