The Redskins announced a pair of roster moves on Saturday. LB Cassanova McKinzy is back on the main roster for the 2nd time this season. Casey Dunn, the UDFA Center who was a surprise keeper at the 53-man cutdown in September, has been waived.
Dunn's developmental spot on the roster became needed this week after both the Redskins starting guards went down. He has been active for 2 games this year, and was the only offensive lineman on the roster to not log a snap on offense this year(6 special teams snaps).
The Redskins signed 3 offensive linemen this week to replace the spots opened up when Brandon Scherff(pec), Shawn Lauvao(ACL), and Paul Richardson Jr.(shoulder) were placed on IR to have surgeries. Guard Jonathan Cooper will likely get the start at LG this week. Tackle Austin Howard and Guard Luke Bowanko were signed as depth due to the amount of injuries across the line.
These signings, and Dunn not being ready for action, left him on the chopping block for a roster spot. The Redskins will sign him to their practice squad if he clears waivers. Hopefully he does not need to be called up this year due to more OL injuries, and can develop for the future.
