Jay Gruden answered questions from the media earlier today. He talked about the season-ending injury to QB Alex Smith, his confidence in Colt McCoy, and why the team chose Mark Sanchez to be the new backup. He also gave some injury updates heading into this week's Thanksgiving Day game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Injury updates:
Gruden said he’s not sure about the status for Trent Williams and Chris Thompson for Thursday. Said Williams was close Sunday; isn’t sure if four days enough time for his thumb to feel that much better.

Gruden explained his timeout rationale yesterday saying he would have preferred to have his timeouts in the 2 minute instead of burning timeouts and having a little more time and no timeouts. After the Norman penalty, he had no choice but to burn them.
