Alex Smith just went down hard on a 3rd down sack as the Redskins were driving in the 3rd quarter. Smith landed awkwardly as he was sacked by Kareem Jackson and J.J. Watt. Smith stayed down and was in obvious pain. He was carted off the field with an air cast on his right ankle. Colt McCoy will finish this game, and likely the season if it is as bad as it looked on the field
Updates will be provided as they become available.
LOOK AWAY IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH.

Alex Smith ends up with an obvious compound fracture of his ankle/lower leg after a sack, and his year will be over.#Redskins pic.twitter.com/wslG8zEt6p
Alex Smith's leg moved at an awful angle on that sack. He is in incredible pain. Several players are kneeling. Cart is coming out.

Alex Smith's ankle just got destroyed on a sack. That was a brutal injury. Colt McCoy is going to finish this game and then play a lot more than that. #Redskins
