Redskins making moves

NFL: Washington Redskins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Redskins announced a few roster moves today. We already knew that rookie 3rd round pick Geron Christian Sr. was being placed on IR after tearing his MCL on Sunday. Christian only played 3 snaps on offense when Ty Nsekhe left the game injured, but now his season is over. Recently signed veteran tackle Austin Howard will be the team's backup until Trent Williams returns from thumb surgery.

Washington also waived second-year CB Joshua Holsey from the roster. He was activated from the Non-Football Injury list yesterday. According to Dr. Gruden, Holsey severed a toe when he dropped a table on his foot.

This leaves an open spot on the 53-man roster. The Redskins have designated WR Trey Quinn and RB Byron Marshall to return from IR. They have to decide whether they will be activated, released, or placed on IR for the year soon. They also worked out several kickers today, because Dustin Hopkins is "a little banged up".

Washingtom announced two practice squad moves. Offensive lineman Casey Dunn was signed to the PS as expected after he was cut last week to sign LB Cassanova McKinzy. RB Mack Brown was cut from the practice squad even though they still have an open spot.
