Jay Gruden spoke to the media the day after the Redskins big win over the Buccaneers. Rookie offensive tackle Geron Christian Sr. is out for the season after tearing his MCL yesterday. The Redskins will turn to Austin Howard as their backup tackle until Trent Williams returns in a week or two. Jamison Crowder will get another MRI as he tries to return to the field, and rookie Trey Quinn is also scheduled for one. The Quinton Dunbar nerve issue continues to confuse Dr. Gruden.

Geron Christian Sr.:
Gruden says the only injury of note from yesterday's game is T Geron Christian Sr., who tore his MCL. He will be out for the remainder of the 2018 season.

Austin Howard:
Austin Howard is now the backup swing tackle and Gruden hopes to get Trent Williams back in a week or two

Geron Christian tore his MCL and is out for the season per Jay Gruden. With Austin Howard here no urgency to sign another OT.

Jamison Crowder:
Crowder slated for another MRI to check on the healing process but Gruden says “hopefully by Thursday he has a chance”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2018
Jamison Crowder will receive another MRI for his ankle. Gruden said Crowded is not quite 100 percent in and out of his cuts, but hopes he can practice on Wednesday.

Quinton Dunbar:
Gruden says he doesn’t have a handle on Quinton Dunbar injury. They just don’t know what’s going on
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2018
Gruden doesn’t have a feel for Dunbar. He can’t run full speed. Waiting for the nerve to get right. Could be tomorrow, could be 2 weeks... #redskins

Trey Quinn:
Jay Gruden says a decision on bringing back Trey Quinn will be made on Wednesday or Thursday depending on how much he’s up to speed at practice.
— Jake Kring-Schreifels (@jakeks19) November 12, 2018
Trey Quinn will likely be activated on Wednesday or Thursday. Crowder is going to test as the week goes, but he doesn’t feel 100% yet. Will have another MRI to make sure he’s on track, too.

Conservative playcalling:
Gruden said he was conservative early on in his playcalling with the new line. “We do have to improve,” he said.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) November 12, 2018
Offensive struggle:
Gruden says part of the offensive struggle was lack of opportunity. The defense was on the field a lot.
— Craig Hoffman (@CraigHoffman) November 12, 2018
Gruden “were obviously not satisfied” “we have to do better on offense”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2018
Zach Brown:
Gruden is very clear there was no discipline for Zach Brown because of the tweet. He laughed at that idea. “We need Zach Brown.”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2018
Tress Way:
“Like he’s dropping soft 9-irons on The Masters 9th green”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2018
Trent Williams:
Trent Williams won’t practice this week.
— Matthew Paras (@Matthew_Paras) November 12, 2018
Pernell McPhee:
McPhee inactive bc he doesn’t play special teams and Skins had to dress 8 offensive linemen
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2018
Do your job:
Gruden says he’s not looking at other teams schedules. “If we do our job we don’t have to worry about any of it”
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 12, 2018
I like that Gruden said he's not worried about Philly's schedule down stretch. He's just worried about Houston because Redskins are in first place and control their destiny. Exactly right mindset.

Defense:
Smith says the defense buckled down in the red zone and that was the difference. Situational football. Red zone. Turnovers. Got it done.
