The 5 O'Clock Club: Results of the UDFA & late round draft pick roster contest

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere...

The 5 o’clock club aims to provide a forum for reader-driven discussion at a time of day when there isn’t much NFL news being published. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below.

There were 20 entries in the Late Round draft pick & UDFA Roster Projection Contest posted back on 29 August.

It turned out that the maximum numbers of points that could be earned by correctly predicting the Redskins roster moves (16 correct projections) was 75 points.

The winner, with an amazing 14 correct projections and 49 points was Redspin. With his entry, Redspin correctly projected every roster move the Redskins made with the 16 players except for Nico Marley and Brandon Banks.

The biggest surprise for most people seemed to be Tyler Catalina making the 53, while Kalis went to the practice squad. Many entries had Kalis making the team, with Catalina cut or PS.

SkininAkron was the only entrant besides Redspin who correctly projected Catalina to the final 53 (in fact he projected both Catalina and Kalis to make the team) earning 37 points, but finished in 3rd place behind Chambers716, who came in second place with 43 points.

While Chambers didn’t pick Catalina to make the team, he did get 11 out of 16 players correct. He squeezed ahead of SkininAkron by correctly forecasting that Robert Davis would land on the Practice Squad (good for +4 points) while SkininAkron incorrectly projected Davis to make the team (-3 points), resulting in the final 6 point advantage for Chambers.

Here’s the complete list of 20 entrants.

Sorry, I don’t belong here; on the day before the regular season starts, I’m not predicting a division championship for the Redskins. I’ll see myself out.
