Redskins told RB Matt Jones they are waiving him, per source.

The Matt Jones error era is over, and the former 3rd round pick will be released today by the 4 pm deadline. Jones got every opportunity to be the RB that former GM Scot McCloughan envisioned him being, but failed to live up to the hype. Jones was injured last season, and then benched for the remainder of the season. Backup “Fat” Rob Kelley took over and hasn’t looked back since.
Jones ends his time in Washington with 950 rushing yards, with a 3.9 y/c average and 9 rushing TDs. He also had 27 receptions for 377 yards and 1 TD. The biggest stat for Jones was the 8 fumbles with 6 being lost. Nail in the coffin.
