With the echo of the final whistle of preseason behind us, there is officially nothing left between us and the regular season. The Redskins sealed the victory late in the fourth quarter thanks to an interception returned for a touchdown by Josh Harvey-Clemons, the seventh-round linebacker out of Louisville.
As I have talked about the last couple weeks, the Redskins are a bit more set than they have been in years past from a talent standpoint. There may have been a roster spot earned tonight, but the story for Washington this summer has been increased depth up and down the roster.
Which player helped himself the most tonight? Which rookie earned the right to make the final 53 because of a performance in this game? I understand many people sleep on the fourth preseason game, and it lived up to its snooze worthiness, but it was fun to watch Nico Marley in that #46 jersey. I definitely liked the way Nate Sudfeld gave the receivers chances to make great catches, and I loved the way those guys showed out. Brian Quick, Maurice Harris and Robert Davis are locked in a battle and they are making it hard on the coaching staff.
I feel like when they put out the final roster, it’s going to be a real “Rudy” moment for someone. Josh Holsey? Jeremy Sprinkle? Montae Nicholson? All three of them?
Either way...it’s on to the regular season.
