Josh Norman happy with the Redskins changes in defensive scheme | CSN
That’s is an interesting way to phrase it and some other players have echoed Norman’s sentiment. While we won’t really know what to expect until the regular season opens—we will be treated to vanilla schemes during the preseason—it seems that while the actual scheme is not all that different Manusky will call it much more aggressively.
Redskins Training camp blog: Day 2 | CSN
—If Nate Sudfeld could get rid of the extra stutter step he frequently takes before delivering some of his passes he might be able to develop. But until he gets rid of that is will be difficult for him to go anywhere.
Kelley working to stay atop the RB depth chart | CSN
He came out of the season with plenty of positives but also some things he needs to work on. One of those areas where improvement is needed is catching passes. He caught 12 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown as a rookie. That is not bad considering he didn’t play much in the first half of the season and Chris Thompson usually was in the game in passing situations. Still, he was targeted 18 times and he had four drops. At that drop rate, the quarterback often will look elsewhere even if the player is open.
Trent Williams technique, athleticism test Redskins pass rushers | ESPN
For those wondering about Junior Galette: Give him time. He admitted he was rusty Thursday and wasn't winning the way he did against backups in the spring. But as much urgency as he wants to show, it's hard to get your game back to what it was on the first day of camp -- after missing two seasons. Galette will have to be patient with himself. What I'm looking forward to seeing: his battles against Williams. That will tell a lot; two years ago, he gave Williams problems unlike anyone else I'd seen here. If he can get back to that, the Redskins will be smiling quite a while.
Josh Norman believes he had a Pro Bowl season in 2016 | ESPN
Norman’s first season with Washington didn’t go quite the same way of his final season with Carolina. In 2015, he was a Defensive Player of the Year candidate thanks to four interceptions, two touchdowns and three forced fumbles. Last season, he played for a defense that struggled and on a team that failed to make the postseason. Norman, though, said in the spring that it might have been his best season.
Terrelle Pryor, Jamison Crowder produce using different styles | ESPN
Later, during a 7-on-7 play, Breeland was right with Pryor as he ran across the middle. But thanks to Pryor’s size and wide catch radius, it didn’t matter. The pass was complete. And that, of course, is another bonus of having a big target. Pryor remains a work in progress. After all, it’s still only his second full year at receiver. He’ll have to match other corners' physical style; Norman has had success vs. him in practice.
