Mike Mayock did his annual mock draft last night, and gave the Redskins a pass rusher with some medical red flags that could scare the Bruce Allen-led Redskins tonight. UCLA DE Takkarist McKinley(6’2”, 250 lbs) is the pick for Washington, giving them help off the edge that they could use in a season that will have Ryan Kerrigan returning from elbow surgery, Trent Murphy suspended for the first 4 games, Preston Smith trying to have a consistent season, and Junior Galette trying to get on the field for the first time in 3 years.
The Redskins are reportedly looking to take an OLB, is McKinley the right one? Mayock mentions his shoulder issues, McKinley had surgery after the Combine to repair a torn labrum. The Redskins will likely want any pass rusher drafted early to be available sooner than later. Kerrigan and Smith will be the starters, at least for the first 4 games, but depth is an issue even with a healthy Junior Galette(big if).

17. Takkarist McKinley, OLB, UCLA
They need immediate help off the edge. McKinley has a great motor. He has some shoulder issues. If their doctors don't think he'll be ready to go full speed on Day One, they can't pull the trigger here.
