Redskins starting ILB Will Compton has reportedly signed his restricted free agent tender, returning to the team for another season. The team’s other RFA, RB Chris Thompson, signed his tender on Friday. Compton joins fellow starter Mason Foster, newly signed Zach Brown, Martrell Spaight, Steven Daniels, and others at the ILB group.
Compton was tendered at his original round, and the Redskins wouldn’t have received a draft pick in return if he was signed by another team because he was an undrafted free agent. The deadline for Compton to sign an offer from another team was last Friday. When that deadline passed, Compton’s option were limited to signing the Redskins offer, or not playing at all.
.@john_keim Compton will get $1.797M for low round tender. If Chris Thompson didn't get an extension, he will get $2.746M for 2nd rd tender #Redskins
