Redskins re-sign Chris Thompson, but still seeking backfield help | ESPN

Coach Jay Gruden has been clear all offseason that he likes Kelley and would only select another back high in the draft if it's a home-run hitter type. There are two backs who will tempt Washington in the first round Thursday: Stanford's Christian McCaffrey and Florida State's Dalvin Cook.

Dream 2017 NFL Draft scenarios for every team | ESPN

Surprise! Washington needs help in the secondary! That must make it ... pretty much any year of the past decade. I have no idea who the GM is down there right now, but John Keim covers the team for us and loves his Ohio State Buckeyes, so let's get him one to cover. Safety Malik Hooker would be the ultimate dream scenario, but we could give Keim a corner like Marshon Lattimore (likely to be long gone) or Gareon Conley (whom some like more than Lattimore). If a rookie is standing up at the first DBs meeting and belting out "Hail, hail, the gang's all here," Washington will have done well.

Pass rusher high on draft list, but Reuben Foster would be tempting | ESPN

They can do so in a few ways, but the scenarios include drafting someone who can help the pass rush. It could be someone such as Temple’s Haason Reddick, who projects inside in a 3-4 base front but who could help as an edge rusher in nickel/dime packages early. He also can cover. With Reddick and safety Su’a Cravens, you’d have two players who could improve the rush but from different spots.

In the months since an actual football was snapped, Foster's stock has taken some hits. It started after the season when he underwent surgery for a rotator cuff injury. Then, at the NFL Combine, Foster engaged in an argument with a hospital worker and was sent home.

Redskins week that was: Mock drafts and cap bargains | CSN

The Redskins' five best salary cap bargains for 2017—When I started pulling the numbers for this post I thought I’d find more key players with salaries of under $1 million. I only found three and one of them is the kicker. This means that they don’t have very many late-round or undrafted players who are contributing a lot of value. They need more out of players like Anthony Lanier, Matt Ioannidis and Maurice Harris. That is how a team thrives in the salary cap era. A couple of Saturday picks could make or break this draft.
