The Redskins announced two roster moves today, and another one has been reported. DE Ziggy Hood has been re-signed after joining the team last year on a reserve/futures deal. Hood had 14 starts last year, and appeared in every game. He ended the year with 33 tackles, 1 sack, and a forced fumble. Vinston Painter was tendered as an ERFA, and has signed to rejoin the team. Painter joined the Redskins after being claimed off waivers from the Miami Dolphins on August 29th, 2016. Painter started the season on the practice squad, but was signed to the 53-man roster in late September. Painter and John Sullivan were added after center Kory Lichtensteiger went on IR.

It’s also being reported that the Redskins have released DL Ricky Jean Francois. The veteran defensive lineman will save the Redskins $3 million against the cap this year. He was entering the third year of a 3-year, $9 million deal. The Redskins signed two defensive linemen at the start of free agency(Stacy McGee and Terrell McClain), but also lost their best DL Chris Baker to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Redskins were also interest in former Philadelphia Eagles DL Bennie Logan, so more moves could be coming on the defensive line.
