The answer is no

The Washington Redskins mortgaged their future to trade up to the 2nd overall pick to pick QB Robert Griffin III in the 2012 draft. That plan looked like it could lead to some much-needed success for the franchise when the team went to the playoffs in his rookie year. But he got hurt during the season, and then he got hurt again during the home playoff game vs the Seahawks.

Griffin was never the same, and while the team continued to put him on the field, the results weren’t there and the team and the player struggled. The Redskins played the QB Carousel game in 2014 with Griffin, Kirk Cousins, and Colt McCoy getting starts after another Griffin injury. When Griffin was concussed in the preseason of the 2015, after the Redskins exercised a 5th year option that would have paid him $16.1 million, he lost his job permanently. Head Coach Jay Gruden and GM Scot McCloughan wanted Kirk Cousins to start, and they got the results they were looking for after a slow start from Cousins.

Griffin was released before he option went into effect, and landed in the QB graveyard known as the Cleveland Browns. He signed a 2 year deal, and was named the starter before the season started. Griffin couldn’t make it through the first game of the season, and suffered a shoulder injury that eventually placed him on injured reserve. He would eventually return to the field after being designated to return from IR. He started the last 4 games of the season, but didn’t do enough to keep his job with the Browns. Now the Browns will release Griffin on the same day that Kirk Cousins signs his franchise tag for ~$24 million.

The Redskins are going through an extra dysfunctional offseason that has seen them lose both their coordinators, both of their 1000+ yard starting WRs, fire and discredit their GM, and place a franchise tag for the second year in a row on a QB who reportedly does not want to be here any more. Is there any way to make it worse? Of course there is, Dan Snyder could make the comical move of getting rid of Kirk Cousins for whatever they can get in a tradr and bringing back RGIII. That would really excite the fanbase...

This is so unbelievable, I’m fully expecting it to happen. It can’t happen right?
