Offseason On the Brink

The Washington Redskins prepare to head into the meat of a crucial offseason in their rebuild, and The Audible takes us through a variety of scenarios and situations.

NFL: Super Bowl Rings Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

When you exercise good patience, you are usually rewarded. Kevin, T and myself like to think that is exactly what happened after we were unable to host ih8dallas (Chris) on our show last week. We had him on last night, and it was only fitting that it was perfect jorts and crocs weather for the occasion.

I decided that I needed to be beat up a little for suggesting that Dan Snyder should insert himself in the Kirk Cousins drama, and I think that part of the discussion was spirited. To be clear, my thinking was that Dan would endorse a quarterback the organization had already decided was the answer. Whether or not that is the current mindset of Scot “McLovin” McCloughan or not remains to be seen, and what followed on the show was a trading of various opinions on that: Does Kirk want the one-year deal so he can choose his own adventure next year? Is there still a mega-deal that we could get done that Kirk could outplay? Are the mistakes that led us to this position (20-20 hindsight) ones that will not haunt us for years to come?

It actually wasn’t that dark. How could it be? Chris brought his special brand of Carolina Chillaxation to the show like he always does, but he is in a rather h8-free mode these days, so no true static got thrown into the podcast universe.

As a Redskins fan watching the Super Bowl, I talked about that moment when it became obvious to me that the Falcons were going to lose the game. (In a completely related story, Chris Chester and Tom Compton were manning the right side of Atlanta’s offensive line.)

I have a few treats hidden throughout the show for the commentariat. Thanks for listening, and thanks for being part of the conversation.
