The Redskins tendered swing tackle Ty Nsekhe and backup OL Vinston Painter on the same day they used the exclusive franchise tag on QB Kirk Cousins. Nsekhe was signed two years ago on a two year, $1.1 million contract. He floated around the NFL and CFL before joining the Redskins and earning a spot on the team. Nsekhe started two games in 2015, and replaced LT Trent Williams during his 4 game suspension this year. The Redskins can offer him a minimum qualifying offer, or give him another deal for 2 or 3 years to reward his solid play this year.
Vinston Painter joined the Redskins after being claimed off waivers from the Miami Dolphins on August 29th, 2016. Painter started the season on the practice squad, but was signed to the 53-man roster in late September. Painter and John Sullivan were added after center Kory Lichtensteiger went on IR.
