Last night, we piled into the basement studio and got real about this offseason in progress. This week’s episode of Offseason On the Brink really starts to get to the heart of some of the more...damaged...nerves that exist within our fanbase. We typically avoid walking too far down the road to Negativetown, and I would argue that is not what we did. Instead, I would suggest we recognized where the freaking out stems from: it stems from our not-so-distant past with these key characters.
Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen could be at it again...or not. The less we find out each day about what is actually going on, the more we fill in those blanks with narratives derived from storylines we recall from less than stellar times in Redskins Nation. That is all I allowed myself to do on this week’s show. I still fully believe the sane and rational decision will be made: Kirk will be the quarterback for the Redskins for years to come.
Either way, the name of The Audible’s offseason programming—’Offseason On the Brink’—has become more and more of an apt description of what is happening.
The Spirit of Sonny kept us going until the end, thankfully. We went with a Bushmill’s bottle of Black Bush Irish Whiskey. It was delicious and exactly what was needed to cover all the ground we set out to cover.
Have a great weekend, and HTTR!
