#Giants have informed coach Ben McAdoo that he’s been relieved of his duties as coach. Less than a year after making the playoffs. Unreal— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) December 4, 2017
The Giants preseason Super Bowl hopes ended quickly this year, but not many people expected their season to be this disastrous. The team is 2-10, they benched QB Eli Manning last week, and surprisingly couldn't win with backup Geno Smith under center.
Ben McAdoo lasted two seasons in New York, and took the tezm to the playoffs in his first year with an 11-5 record. His flameout has been entertaining to watch, and now the team will likely turn to defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to limp to the finish line of the 2017 season.
Jerry Reese has been with Giants since 1994 when he was hired as a college scout. He has been New York's GM since 2007. During that time he helped the Giants win two Super Bowls against the Patriots. His drafting has been questioned heavily recently, and after Tom Coughlin was put out to pasture, he hired McAdoo and bought a defense trying to stay relevant. It didn't work, and now he is unemployed.
The Redskins will face the Giants again this season in Week 17. Eli was benched following the New York's loss to Washington two weeks ago.
#Giants will have Steve Spagnuolo take over as head coach and Kevin Abrams as GM the rest of the way, per person w/ knowledge of team's moves.— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) December 4, 2017
