Jay Gruden talked to reporters today, after the Redskins got a win over the Cardinals yesterday. It wasn't pretty but the Redskins only left the victory with a few players banged up. Trent Williams was inactive, but Gruden isn't ready to shut him down yet.
Jonathan Allen won't be returning for the final two games this year. The impressive rookie DL was lost for the season due to a Lisfranc injury. Gruden said it's unlikely the Redskins will bring anyone else back from IR after activating kicker Dustin Hopkins yesterday.

Special teams:
Jay Gruden laments the lack of big special teams plays this year, attributes that to a lack of depth with so many injuries and not having consistency with everyone.

Cardinals pooch kick:
Jay Gruden called Arizona's pooch kickoff "an unbelievable kick... it was a Jordan Spieth sand wedge." The Cardinals recovered the kick. Gruden did say the Redskins need better play from their special teams. https://t.co/WRpojOmKjV

Jonathan Allen:
Jay Gruden says we won't see Jonathan Allen this year. He said he was in shape, but not football shape. Not going to risk it

Q: How would you evaluate Jonathan Allen’s season?
— Kimberley A. Martin (@ByKimberleyA) December 18, 2017
Gruden joked: “It seems so long ago that he played.” #redskins
Redskins coach Jay Gruden said rookie defensive lineman Jonathan Allen won't return this season. He's on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury. With two games left Allen wouldn't have enough time to practice and prepare to play a game. He has yet to... https://t.co/LkNO9PVaMj

Trent Williams:
Gruden says they don't anticipate bringing back Jonathan Allen off IR with two games left. He's not sure about shutting down Trent Williams just yet.
— Jake Kring-Schreifels (@jakeks19) December 18, 2017
Gruden not ready to put Trent on IR yet. Wants to keep him available, even if there's only a tiny chance that he's OK to play this SUN v Denver or season-finale at NYG https://t.co/fVIvweyDoW

No more players returning from IR:
Gruden adds that team probably won't bring back another player off IR this season. Dustin Hopkins was activated on Saturday. Teams are now allowed to bring two players off IR now.

Zach Brown return:

Stability at QB with Kirk Cousins:
Gruden on having stability at QB with Kirk Cousins: That’s one position you don’t want a lot of change. That’s for sure. #redskins

Chase Roullier:
Interesting when Gruden talked about Chase Roullier as a ‘good center for a long time’ for #Redskins. What does that mean for free agent Spencer Long?
