While you were watching the Eagles dominating the hapless Bears, the Redskins were at practice preparing for this week’s Thursday Night Football game against the Cowboys. The team practiced indoors today, and surprisingly had no new injuries to report. Jay Gruden talked to reporters for 10 minutes after practice today to give a few updates on players with lingering issues(Jordan Reed), preparing for Dallas week, and getting back to practice this week.
Kirk Cousins also spoke to reporters after practice. He talked about working with new, young wide receivers and running backs, the Giants game, and more.

Chase Roullier:
Roullier’s injury is on his snap hand and that’s a big part of the problem a him playing through injury

Jamison Crowder:
“Jamison [Crowder] will be a key component” during the final five games of the season, Jay Gruden said #Redskins

Personnel changes:
"Two years ago I'm a 1st year starter playing with Pro Bowl receivers.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
Now i'm in my 3rd year, working with younger players.
I enjoy the opportunity"
- Kirk Cousins at the podium now.
Byron Marshall:
"I was pretty impressed by Byron Marshall and his ability to be on the details right away"
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
- Kirk Cousins at the podium now.
"Byron's a player who excites me - he has some juice to him.
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
He just seems to understand football pretty well"
- Kirk Cousins at the podium now.
Jamison Crowder TD:
Good question to Kirk from @lizclarketweet about Crowder's TD play
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
Kirk : "Rarely does a player get that open, especially on 3rd and 15..."
Passes short of 1st down:
Another good Q to Kirk, this time from @JPFinlayNBCS about receivers catching balls short of the sticks on 3rd down
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
Kirk: "Maybe I could have stopped Josh [Doctson] with the ball better...
Younger players have seen it happen now and in the future say 'I can't let that happen'."
Kirk Cousins knows there have been plays where WRs don’t quite get to 1st down mark. And it’s something he wants to challenge guys to fix as the year goes on
— JP Finlay (@JPFinlayNBCS) November 26, 2017
Josh Doctson:
"I think teams have had different plans [about Doctson]. The Vikings had their #1 CB Xavier Rhodes follow Josh... teams vary their coverages. The Giants more predominantly rushed 3 and dropped 8 into coverage"
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
- Kirk Cousins at the podium now
QB age:
Great Q from @MasterTes about Kirk being 29, but guys like Brady playing at 40
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
Kirk: "I've always felt my dream would be to walk away from the game on my own terms... Where I could still play, but I say 'no I'm good'
The best QBs from when I started playing are all still here!"
Learning from poor plays:
"I always look at the 'why' behind a poor play or poor performance. Sometimes the 'why' isn't 'I have to get better'. Sometimes in a win, it is. I'm always looking for the reason behind a poor finish"
— Chad Ryan (@ChadwikoRCC) November 26, 2017
- Kirk Cousins at the podium... knows his why.
