ESPN’s John Keim reports that the Redskins will promote WR Maurice Harris and DL Brandon Banks to the 53-man roster. He also reports that recently-signed DL Arthur Jones lasted one game with the Redskins before dislocating his shoulder and being placed on injured reserve. That leaves one other move to make space for the two roster additions. Ben Standig also reports that Washington is waiving UDFA OL Tyler Catalina.

The Redskins have some areas that needed help heading into the second half of the season, and these moves could be just the start. Many people were surprised when Maurice Harris didn’t make the roster and was kept on the practice squad. Harris was injured during the preseason, but has been healthy, and the Redskins have been dealing with injuries at their skill positions all season, along with low production from the wide receiver position. Brian Quick had been the team’s 5th WR all season, and suffered a concussion last week while making a huge catch on the game-winning drive. Quick is questionable for this week’s game, and Harris could be active his first week on the main roster this year.

Washington got one game out of Arthur Jones before he was lost for the season with a shoulder injury. He was in on 28% of the team’s defensive snaps in his first week with the team. Jones’ injury left the Redskins with only 4 healthy defensive linemen on the roster. The team worked out several DL this week(Stefan Charles, Tyson Jackson, Caraun Reid, Will Sutton) but opted to promote Banks who has been on the practice squad all year.

Tyler Catalina making the team over other options this year was a big surprise. The team liked his versatility over another UDFA guard, Kyle Kalis, and kept him while cutting and signing Kalis to the practice squad. Kalis was poached from the Redskins PS by the Indianapolis Colts, and he was their starting RG last week. The team also chose Catalina over Arie Kouandjio who was drafted by the team in 2015. Kouandjio was signed off the Ravens practice squad, and has now earned his spot back on the team.
