Washington Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden spoke to reporters today and the focus was on the growing number of injuries the team has suffered this season. The Redskins were missing 3 out of 5 of their starting offensive linemen going into the game, and had more linemen go down with injury during the team’s loss to the Cowboys. Trent Williams will reportedly be week-to-week as he tries to rest his knee that will need surgery. Brandon Scherff and Spencer Long also missed yesterday’s game. Shawn Lauvao was injured with a stinger, backup LT T.J. Clemmings injured his ankle, Ty Nsekhe is still recovering from core muscle surgery, and Morgan Moses has been playing on injured ankles all season. Not good.
Another big injury on the defensive line happened yesterday when second-year DL Matt Ioannidis fractured his hand in the 1st quarter. Gruden said Ioannidis will need surgery and could miss a few weeks. The Redskins already lost rookie stud DL Jonathan Allen for the year with a Lisfranc injury. The pair had been a force together, and were the best players on the Redskins defensive line this year.
Gruden also expects to be without TE Jordan Reed for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. Reed hurt his hamstring in the 2nd quarter and was unable to return. The Redskins were down to one healthy tight end after Niles Paul left the game with a concussion after being the lead blocker on a Rob Kelley touchdown and taking a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit from Sean Lee. The Redskins will look to rookie Jeremy Sprinkle to be active this week.
Gruden was asked about tomorrow’s trade deadline, but didn’t give any indication the team would be active. There are too many injuries, and the team isn’t looking to move core players, injured or not. This could all change by tomorrow, but for right now the Redskins aren’t in the market...

Shawn Lauvao – stinger – decreased strength in arm. He could miss some time. T.J. Clemmings has an ankle sprain, he’ll be day-to-day. [Montae] Nicholson has a stinger and AC joint aggravation. And then updates, [Spencer] Long will be week-to-week. Trent Williams – knee – he’s going to see how he feels during the week. Ty Nsekhe is going to increase his workload and see if he can practice. And then [Brandon] Scherff will be the same; hopefully we can increase his work and see if he can go or not.”

Gruden: There's so many injuries on this list that I dont think it's strength and conditioning related. Coach doesnt blame training staff

Who starts at LT?:
Gruden says he has no idea who’d be @ LT if #Skins practiced tmrw, w TWilliams, TNsekhe, TJClemmings all out. That’s 1-2-3 on depth chart

Jay Gruden says #Redskins couldn't have much of a practice tomorrow if he wanted to because "I don't have a left tackle."

Depth is getting thin:
Gruden says #Redskins are short at DLine, safety and in limbo on OLine. Cant make many roster moves bc of the injuries
