Saturday Slop: Redskins vs Cowboys

Top Redskins stories of the day

Josh Norman, Dez Bryant cash in on rivalry, become “advertising buds” | ESPN

Norman said he was the one who held out longer before agreeing to shoot the commercial. He and Bryant were not together when they shot their spots, but they did talk on the phone before shooting it this summer. Norman said they shot it some time in the preseason.

Redskins starting LB Mason Foster to undergo season ending surgery | ESPN

Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Foster would be placed on injured reserve at some point Friday. Gruden also said starting center Spencer Long won't play vs. the Dallas Cowboys Sunday because of issues with his quads. Long had been dealing with the injury for a couple of weeks and was forced to miss five snaps in Monday's loss at Philadelphia. He returned because of injuries to others. Rookie Chase Roullier will start in his place Sunday.

Redskins Jordan Reed ready to be a force again as toe, hip improve | ESPN

A lot of that stems from the fact that he’s averaging only 2.69 yards after the catch, compared to 3.83 last year and 5.44 two years ago. His average yards per catch is a career-low 7.92 -- a drop from 10.32 last season. The Redskins do have Vernon Davis, who routinely uses his speed to get open downfield, so that limits some of Reed’s chances on those routes. And they often have Reed run hitches over the middle, making it tougher to run.

Redskins Terrelle Pryor apologizes to fans, teammates for slow start | ESPN

There hasn't been a big difference in his first-quarter production compared to last season. In 2016, Pryor was targeted 25 times in the opening quarter and caught 16 passes with no touchdowns. In six games this season, Pryor has been targeted a team-high 12 times with eight catches and a score. The Redskins would like more consistency in the route running. Their passing game also features more tight ends -- Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis -- and running back Chris Thompson.

After twitter rant, Mason Foster met with Bruce Allen to clear the air | CSN

Foster explained that he should have talked to Allen before his Twitter rant, and that he apologized to the Redskins team president. Allen too offered an apology, per Foster, and explained that he should have sought out the player to explain the situation.
