The Redskins, and fans, got the terrible news today that rookie DE Jonathan Allen will miss the rest of his rookie year with a Lisfranc injury. The team has not officially announced that Allen will go to IR yet, but did officially add DT A.J. Francis to their practice squad. Francis was with the team last season, and during the offseason this year. We spoke to Francis recently and he touched on a number of topics including what it takes to play nose tackle in the NFL. He joins Brandon Banks as the only DL on the Redskins 10-man practice squad.
A spot was open for Francis because the Redskins released the only QB they had on the practice squad yesterday, Joel Stave. He had replaced Alek Torgersen on the squad, and the team currently only has two QBs signed. Washingington also swapped offensive linemen this week after holding tryouts for 20 players. Jerry Ogokwe, signed earlier this month, was replaced by the 6'8" Danish lineman Andres Knappe.
More roster moves will happen soon as the Redskins will have to fill Jonathan Allen's spot on the roster. Anthony Lanier will be active on game day and enter the rotation with the other 4 defensive linemen on the roster.
