The 5 o’clock club aims to provide a forum for reader-driven discussion at a time of day when there isn’t much NFL news being published. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below.
That’s a game that should never have been that close, and the guys in the striped shirts had too much impact on the game.
That said, wins come hard in the NFL.
- Miami topped Atlanta, in Atlanta.
- Chicago beat Baltimore.
- Detroit put up 38 points and lost... by two touchdowns, in a 90-point affair.
- Aided by 134 yards & 2 TDs from Adrian Peterson, a heretofore horrible Arizona team got the best of Tampa Bay.
- Helped along by a broken collarbone, the Vikings defeated the Packers.
- Heck, the previously winless Giants, who apparently had to round up kids playing ball in Central Park on Saturday to fill out their WR corps, got a win against the Broncos — in Denver.
- And a Pittsburgh team that looked absolutely horrendous against Jacksonville took down the previously unbeaten Chiefs.
There are only two teams in the NFL with a single loss, and they happen to be the only two teams to beat the Redskins this season: the Chiefs and the Eagles, The Redskins have the chance to repay one of those losses in the coming week at Lincoln Financial Stadium.
Ugly though it may have been from the end of the 2nd quarter to the end of the game, the Redskins got the win against the 49ers, improving the Washington record to 3-2 on the year (tied for 9th best in the league), and they will play Philly for control of the division lead on Monday Night Football in Week 7. A Washington loss puts Philadelphia firmly in charge of the top spot in the division, while a Redskin win puts the two teams on equal footing again.
Unless the networks have lost their minds, the Redskins @ Eagles should be one of the most hyped games of the week.
But before we move on to the Eagles, let’s take one more good look at the Redskins cheerleaders - 49ers game.
What do you think?
