The 5 O'Clock Club: Skinless Sunday - Predicting today’s NFC East games

New, comments

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere...

The 5 o’clock club aims to provide a forum for reader-driven discussion at a time of day when there isn’t much NFL news being published. Feel free to introduce topics that interest you in the comments below.

LA Rams (2 - 1) at Dallas (2 - 1)

The Rams have proven that they can score, but can their talent-laden defense stop the Cowboys offense, playing in A&T Stadium? Wade Phillips still holds a grudge about being fired mid-season by Jerry Jones in 2010. After hearing a lot of criticism for allowing 66 points over the past two games, I think he and his boys will come out roaring on Sunday, but their enthusiasm will work against them, as they become overly-aggressive. I predict a high scoring contest as the Rams defense gets gashed by both Elliott when he breaks through the first level, and Prescott, when he uses his mobility to evade the pass rush. I don’t think the Cowboys defense can stop Sean McVay’s offense. 39 - 33, Rams win.

Philly (2 - 1) at LA Chargers (0 -3)

The LA Chargers continue to be the best team with a horrible record in the NFL. The Eagles keep proving that they are a legitimate playoff contender. This one won’t be close. The Chargers score a late TD to make the score look respectable. 31 - 24, Eagles win.

NY Giants (0 - 3) at Tampa Bay (1 - 1)

The Giants pride is wounded. Eli will want to show that he can still play football. OBJ will want to flex his muscle and carry his team to victory. McAdoo will want to demonstrate his leadership and ability to right the ship. None of it will matter; this is a bad offense suffering a crisis of leadership. The Giants’ ship is burning; this is a team of dead men walking. Giants will be 0-7 or 1-6 at the bye, which will be the perfect time for Mara to fire Ben McAdoo, who will never survive until the Week 12 game against the Redskins. 34 - 17, Buccaneers win.
