It is never too early to talk draft, and when you can pull Steve Shoup in—straight outta Mobile—to break down the NFL draft process, you know it’s going to be a good night in the basement. I tried to work in sentiments expressed by the regulars on here with regard to a variety of topics, and did a better job of getting some actual Hogs Haven handles out there (is it pronounced “J.R. Hoo” or “Junior Hoo”?).
We managed to check the Kirk Cousins box in a fun, draft-related way, as Steve reminisced about the year the Shanahans fell in love with the Michigan State product.
Is it too early for fourth round nuggets? Is it too soon to target best players available at #17 in the first round? Are we jumping the gun when we envision O.J. Howard in a Redskins jersey? I have to say...you don’t talk for a half hour about the draft with Steve Shoup and come away uneducated. Have a listen:
I haven’t identified my guy yet, but if you told me that the Redskins were going to either get O.J. Howard or Malik Hooker in the first round, I would likely need a change of pants. (Our trade-down potential in this draft is also starting to materialize. McLovin doesn’t have a date to this dance...leaving him capable of going home with whomever he wants.)
Thanks for listening and joining the conversation.
