The Redskins released 22 players yesterday to get the roster down to the 53-man limit. Teams can now put waiver claims in for players released by other teams, but these players must be added to their 53-man roster. Players that go unclaimed by noon today, which will be the majority of them, can then be signed to any team's practice squad at 1pm. Players usually sign with the team that cut them, and most team's will inform the players they plan on picking them back up. They can also add more money to the player's weekly salary to get them to sign, and keep them from signing with other teams. Practice squad rules can be found here.
The list of 22 players released yesterday is below, and there are 4 players who will not be eligible for the practice squad due to their veteran status. The names in bold are players that will reportedly receive interest from the Redskins for the practice squad. There could be a few others the team is interested in, and there over 1100 players who have been released in the last week.
