Kirk Cousins needs to relax, Su’a Cravens needs more snaps - ESPN Redskins Blog
Quarterback Kirk Cousins needs to take a deep breath and relax. It seems as if the burden of expectations has weighed on him during the first two games. He's left too many big plays on the field and thrown three interceptions. I don't think the contract situation weighs on him as much as feeling as if he has to make a lot of plays. Considering how many times he's thrown (89) in two games, it's a logical feeling.

RB Matt Jones—I get the feeling that the Redskins coaches may overcompensate for their lack of run play calls in the first two games. That would mean a heavy workload for Jones. He will need to remain effective (4.3 yards/carry) and continue to hold on to the ball.

In fact, against the Saints last week the Giants did not score an offensive touchdown, getting their only TD on a return of a blocked field goal attempt. And they lost those three fumbles. Since merger only four teams have won a game with no offenive touchdowns and a negative turnover margin. You might remember the last time it happened. It was the Bears beating the Cardinals in 2006 and the result had Arizona coach Dennis Green shouting “They are who we thought they were! And we let them off the hook!” Clearly the Saints let the Giants off the hook but Sean Peyton didn’t explode at the podium.

Giving up ground - Look at the box scores from Week 1 and 2 and it's clear the Redskins do not run the ball enough. Matt Jones has 20 carries in two games; ideally a running back would get close to 20 carries per game. Repeatedly Gruden and McVay have said they strive for a run/pass balance, but don't expect that to come this week. "We want to run the ball, we want to be balanced there’s no question about that, I think every team does. But, really at the end of the day, the best way we think to attack will be shown on Sunday," Gruden said. The Giants are giving up about 70 yards per game on the ground, and while the 'Skins absolutely need to commit to the run, this might not be the week it starts.
