Redskins cut C Austin Reiter for DT Cullen Jenkins

The 2nd-year center lasted one week on the 53-man roster

It was reported earlier that the Redskins would be re-signing DT Cullen Jenkins, and now the corresponding roster cut is also being reported. The Redskins are releasing center Austin Reiter with the hopes that he can go back to the practice squad where he spent most of his rookie season. Reiter is still considered a developmental project, and the Redskins will keep him in waiting for now.

Spencer Long was dealing with an ankle injury suffered in the preseason, and would have been the team’s only option if Kory Lichtensteiger went down without Reiter on the roster this week. Now that Long is reportedly healthy, Reiter becomes expendable.

Update: Practice squad spot cleared for Austin Reiter with release of OL Nila Kasitati
