You’ll recall that starting LG Shawn Lauvao was injured during week three of last season. He hasn’t practiced since. Today, that changes. Lauvao will return to practice this afternoon for the first time since going down with that ankle injury long ago. Not only did he need surgery from that badly sprained/dislocated ankle in week three, but Lauvao has had multiple ankle/foot surgeries since.
Coaches and fans loved Lauvao last year as our running game was at its peak with him in at LG. He immediately steps back in to compete with Spencer Long to see who will be the starter at that spot this year. Long has had his ups and downs in camp so far and is also practicing as the second-team C. Others getting snaps at LG have been Arie Kouandjio and Josh LeRibeus. Lauvao should (given 100% health) step right in and be in the mix to regain his old starting spot.
Lauvao had started camp on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list but must be officially taken off that list as players on the PUP list cannot participate in practice.
Gruden has no new updates for WR Josh Doctson, says OL Shawn Lauvao will practice today.
