The 2nd round of the NFL draft started with the Cleveland Browns selecting Emmanuel Ogbah, the Tennessee Titans selecting Kevin Dodd, and the Dallas Cowboys selecting Jaylon Smith. All three of these players have question marks surrounding them.
With Ogbah, can he play to his potential or will he continue to take plays off? With Dodd, is he a one year wonder or is there some consistency in his talent? With Smith, can he heal and be the player he was before the injury?
The Chargers selected Hunter Henry for insurance for the aging Antonio Gates and the Jaguars traded up to select Myles Jack who has had quite the slide.
Chris Jones is going to the Kansas City Chiefs and should have an immediate impact for them.
Xavien Howard was selected by the Dolphins and he was in discussions to jump into the back half of the 1st round before the draft.
Yet another pass rusher goes as Noah Spence is selected by Tampa Bay.
The Giants select Sterling Shepard and give Eli Manning a true weapon across the middle.
Defensive players are coming off the board heavy but so far Alabama players Jarran Reed and A'Shawn Robinson are still in the green room. Andrew Billings and Austin Johnson have yet to be selected. The Redskins could have a great chance at adding a quality run defender.
Exciting!
It goes without saying but it is clear pass rushing is king in the NFL today. If you don't excel at it as an EDGE or DL you are going to wait to hear your name called.
