Redskins Top 5 Realistic Draft Options Going Into Day 2

Cadillactica lists his top 5 prospects that may still be there when the Redskins pick at 53

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

The Redskins made a somewhat surprising move in Round 1, clearly taking the best player on their board in Josh Doctson. Here are the top 5 players I think the Redskins could realistically target in the second round.

1. Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama

While a lot of fans were originally on board with drafting Reed at 21 there were valid concerns expressed by others in taking a potential 2-down player with a 1st round pick. If he lasts to 53 Reed presents excellent value for the Redskins D-line in the 2nd round.

2. Chris Jones, DE, Mississippi State

A fan favorite. Chris Jones provides excellent pass rush skills and athleticism rushing from the DE position. The Redskins are looking to get to the QB more this season and Jones could be the player that helps them do that.

3. Nick Martin, OG/C, Notre Dame

The "air" was let out of Hogshaven when Ryan Kelly was drafted by the Colts at pick 18. I think its clear the Redskins will be looking to upgrade the O-line at some point during the draft. Why not take a technician and versatile player that can step it at OG or C whenever he's needed?

4. Vonn Bell, S, Ohio State

It was a little surprising that both Karl Joseph and Keanu Neal were selected so early last night. Skins fans shouldn't get too down. Bell potentially could challenge for a starting role if selected in the 2nd. Despite lacking size, Bell isn't lacking in coverage ability, instincts and toughness.

5. Kentrell Brothers, ILB, Missouri

Some might consider the back end of the 2nd round too rich for Brothers as he isn't the best athlete but he's definitely a red. His football IQ, leadership, instincts, technique and what he has put on tape are arguably much more important than a 4.9 40.
