Scot McCloughan, the now beloved personnel man for the Washington Redskins, made legions of fans excited with his decision to add Josh Doctson, the wide receiver out of TCU.
The Redskins are currently set to pick next in the second round, at #53 overall, unless McLovin wheels and deals some more.
It appears that the Redskins went with their board, and when it came time for them to put the pick in, their board said the 6'2" receiver was the best player available. We have been debating this very thing for the last few months. Would the focus more on need or more on straight BPA?
A'Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed and even Vernon Butler must have been staring the Redskins down as their pick loomed. With Ryan Kelly off the board, I really thought they were going to switch gears and get involved in the defensive linemen game.
Josh Doctson brings with him a desire to do do everything it takes to catch the football. He has shown exceptional body control, balance and effort when going to challenge for balls in the air. When you heard Jay Gruden talk about Doctson after the pick was made, you could hear that he was pleased--as any offensive-minded coach would be.
We'll be bringing you more coverage as the day goes on and look forward to seeing what direction the team goes in the second and third rounds.
