Redskins to Trade for Kam Chancellor?

New, comments

Could the 'Skins STILL be looking to upgrade their secondary prior to the draft?

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The Redskins just signed CB Josh Norman to a huge, five-year contract.  The couldn't possibly still be looking to upgrade the secondary prior to the draft on Thursday... could they?

SS Kam Chancellor (28, 6'3", 232 lbs.) was drafted by the Seahawks back in 2010.  Well Chancellor has reportedly been unhappy with the Seahawks this off-season.  There have been reports about him being available via trade for months, but it'd probably be pretty costly.

The 'Skins have shown some interest in bringing Chancellor back home this off-season, but most of that was prior to the Norman signing.  If they're still interested, it'd likely cost a draft pick or two and possibly a player or two, as well.  The Seahawks are a bit thin on the OL and the Redskins have some depth there, so perhaps a pick or two and one of our OL would do the trick?

Kam is from Norfolk and played his college ball at VT.  He's opened up about being a massive Sean Taylor fan growing up and it's reasonable to think he'd like to come back to the area and be reunited with McCloughan.  His contract is set for him to make ~$5M this year and goes up to ~$7M next year.

Chick Hernandez of CSN Mid-Atlantic mentioned on 910AM in Richmond here this morning that the Redskins have some interest in trading for Chancellor prior to the draft.  Stay tuned.
