The Washington Redskins are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. After a convincing 42-24 Week 11 win over the Green Bay Packers, Washington's record climbs to 6-3-1. Here is a look at where the Redskins are in the power rankings after Sunday's victory:
Yahoo - 7
Yahoo's Frank Schwab ranks Washington No. 7 in his power rankings after Week 12. Last week, Schwab had the Redskins in the No. 8 spot. Schwab is particularly enthusiastic about the performance of Rob Kelley last week against the Packers. Kelley, an undrafted rookie, gave the Redskins offense a boost by carrying the ball 24 times for 137 yards and three touchdowns.
USA Today - 9
In USA Today's power rankings, the Redskins move up one spot to No. 9. USA Today mentions an incident that happened Sunday after the game in which Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins shouted at GM Scot McCloughan, "How do you like me now?" USA Today believes that Cousins is in a good position to negotiate a contract to be the long-term quarterback of the Redskins.
NFL.COM - 9
NFL.com's Elliott Harrison has Washington at No. 9 after Week 12, unchanged from last week. Harrison warns against taking too much away from the Redskins' victory over Green Bay because of the Packers injured secondary. Still, Harrison believes Cousins is giving Redskins fans a reason to be excited. He also points out that Cousins may have another big game this week in Dallas since the Cowboys' secondary is also dealing with injury problems.
FOX Sports - 9
In Cameron DaSilva's Week 12 power rankings for Fox Sports, the Redskins climb two spots this week to No. 9. DaSilva was also impressed by the effort of Kelley in the Green Bay game. He feels that Kelley's spark to the offense and Josh Norman's ability to shut down opposing teams' best receivers make the Redskins strong contenders for a playoff spot.
ESPN - 9
ESPN's Week 12 power rankings have the Redskins ranked as the No. 9 team in the NFL, a two spot improvement over last week. ESPN points out that the Redskins have a .813 winning percentage since Week 3 of the season, which puts them in a tie for third-best in the NFL. ESPN points to the Redskins upcoming game against Dallas as a critical test. The Cowboys, who are 9-1 this season, are a consensus No. 1 in all five power rankings after Week 12.
Redskins' Future Power Rankings
Washington rose slightly in this week's power rankings. Four out of the five power rankings agree that the Redskins are the No. 9 team in the NFL. Last week, the same five power rankings had the Redskins at an average of 9.8. Perhaps, Green Bay's well-publicized troubles contributed to the rather small rise in the rankings. This week, the Redskins have an opportunity to shake up the power rankings as they face No. 1 Dallas in Dallas on Thanksgiving Thursday. Kickoff is at 4:30 EST. The game will be televised on FOX.
