Vernon Davis gets a literal "taste" of military life

Vernon Davis has been making a difference with the Redskins this year. So far this season, Vernon has appeared in 9 games, starting 7 of them. He has 26 receptions for 382 yards and 2 touchdowns. And despite all the targets that Jordan Reed has gotten, Davis tops receivers in the league by pulling in 89% of the balls thrown his way. His influence extends beyond his ability to place his hands on the ball. His blocking has been a major reason that the running game averages about 4.6 yards per carry.

Vernon is the ultimate team player. "Before I signed here I always told myself, ‘I'll do whatever they need me to do. I'll be wherever I need to be for these guys because it's a team effort. Whether it's blocking or catching passes, I'll do it. I won't complain."

Davis also recognizes  that being a member of the armed forces means being part of a very special team. Recently Vernon and Special Team Coordinator and former Army Apache pilot, Ben Kotwica hosted a luncheon for members of our military.

However, while Ben and guests sat down to a beautifully prepared meal, Vernon literally got a "taste" of military life. Take a look at this hilarious video:

The experience was hosted by USAA, the Official Military Appreciation Sponsor of the NFL, as part of its commitment to bringing authentic football experiences directly to the military.
