When Matt Jones carries the football, it gives me the same feeling as when I see my 5-year old daughter walk on the carpet with a cup of juice in her hand. You just know it’s a dance with disaster.
And Matt finally stained the carpet on Sunday. Sure, the Redskins should have buckled down on defense with a minute to go. Hopkins shouldn’t have been trying new H-O-R-S-E shots mid-game. But Matt Jones’ fumbles were, in my estimation, 98.3% responsible for the loss to the Detroit Lions.
Unacceptable.
Meanwhile, the ‘Fat’ Robert Kelley train is starting to pick up steam, and Chris Thompson is coming off his best game since being drafted.
McCloughan and Gruden have benched or parted ways with players for similar infractions. Reyes, Paea, Amerson...all shown the door for not performing to expectations. When is Matt going to get the same treatment? And if Fat Rob is consistently flashing in games while NOT FUMBLING, what kind of message does it send to the rest of the team?
Is it because of draft position? Is it because we need to prove that getting rid of Alfred Morris for Jones was a good idea? I’m not sure the reasoning, but Jones is getting passes that other players do not.
So when the Redskins run their first play against the Bengals on Sunday, who will be lined up behind Kirk Cousins?
