Player Ovierview
Wentz wasn't highly recruited coming out of Bismarck Century High School in Bismarck, North Dakota despite despite being named 2010 North Dakota Class 3A Player of the Year for Century, All-State At-Large pick, and All-conference at both quarterback and defensive back and leading his team to 8-3 record, conference title and state semifinals.
Some of the many accolades he received while at North Dakota State are: Four-time MVFC Academic Honor Roll, two-time NCAA Elite 89 Award winner, 2015 NCAA Elite 90 Award winner, two-time All-MVFC Honorable Mention, 2014 Sporting News FCS Playoff MVP, 2014 Sporting News Fab-50 All America and two-time Division I Championship Game Most Outstanding Player. He will be participating in the 2016 Senior Bowl, January 30 at 2:30 p.m.
Draft analysts like Mike Mayock and others really like what he has to offer. He may be the best quarterback taken in the draft. Despite being from a small school, he's a proven winner and NFL teams who need a quarterback could and should have their eyes on this guy.
Strengths
- He’s an accurate passer and has a quick release at times
- Does well standing in the pocket and throwing the ball with pressure bearing down on him
- He has great ability to run the ball, doesn’t seem like the most athletic runner but give him some daylight and he’ll do something with it
- Has great vision when running the ball and shows elusiveness
- Much more dangerous throwing outside the pocket
Weaknesses
- On some throws, he holds the ball too long and in the NFL that won’t yield results. The pressure is much quicker than in the college game

Carson Wentz is out here trying to steal reps. Keeps walking to the line and calling cadence before coaches notice. Kid is hungry.
