Redskins vs Eagles Injury Reports: DeSean Jackson Does Not Practice

Both NFC East teams have several starters hurting heading into Sunday's game in Washington

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins placed two more players on injured reserve this week, ending the seasons of starting LG Shawn Lauvao(ankle) and 4th CB Justin Rogers(foot). Lauvao's backup, Josh LeRibeus, was also injured during the Giants game, and was limited in practice this week. The Redskins will likely turn to one of their young(er) backup guards, with Spencer Long and rookie Arie Kouandjio waiting for their opportunity to start.

The Redskins depth at CB has been getting tested all year, and that won't stop this week. Rogers is out for the year, DeAngelo Hall is expected to be out for weeks with a toe injury, David Amerson was released, and now the team's #1 CB, Chris Culliver, shows up on the injury report with knee soreness.  The Redskins signed Wil Blackmon before Thursday's game and have been using him out of necessity, and have also signed Quinton Dunbar, a converted WR, from their practice squad.

The big name on the list for this week is DeSean Jackson who was not able to practice again today due to the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 1.  Jackson is expected to try to play this game, but it is not a guarantee that he will be able to.  The Redskins need Jackson's ability to open up a defense, and Jackson needs another chance to show Chip Kelly the error of his ways.

Perry Riley, Jr. has still not returned to practice, and could miss another game due to a calf injury.  Riley will be replaced in the lineup by Will Compton again if he is unable to play against the Eagles.

Kiko Alonso got some good news about his knee injury, his ACL is intact, but he will miss time to allow it to heal. He will not play this week.  WR Riley Cooper also did not practice today, and I'm not sure that anyone really  noticed. The other significant names on the Eagles injury report are RB DeMarco Murray who is still nursing a hamstring injury. His absence last week coincided with the Eagles best game on the ground and their first win. Get well soon DeMarco!  Jason Peters was injured in last week's game and did not practice today, but is expected to play on Sunday.  The Eagles also lost two players to injured reserve this week, OG Andrew Gardner and K Cody Parkey.
