HH's Hump Day NFL Pick'em - Week 3

Guess what day it is??? Mike Harar is back with Year 3 of his weekly pick'em contest - with new and improved prizes brought to you by NRG!!

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome everyone to Week 3 of the 2015 Hump Day NFL Pick'em!

We are back and so happy to continue to work with the good folks at NRG, who provided the excellent prizes last year and will continue to do so this season!

NRG

Week 2 served as a stark contrast to Week 1, as our Redskins got a HUGE win against the Rams and showed they may have the formula to be competitive this season.  The Hump Day staff and I were then greeted with a solid week of picks in which we went 5-5 and finished with a respectable five points.

We were also happy we were able to name a winner for Week 1: SkinsaneAsylum, who ended up taking tickets to the Redskins-Rams game courtesy of NRG and hopefully enjoyed himself!  In regards to last week's prize (tickets to the Redskins-Eagles game) we are still waiting to hear back from one of the contestants chosen who did not use his Hogs Haven username as his first name on Rafflecopter.  As soon as we get that info, we'll be able to name a winner for Week 2.

Please remember to use your Hogs Haven username going forward as your first name on Rafflecopter so we know which picks to look at in the comments section.

Having said all that, let's move on to Week 3 and go over the rules again:

This is a weekly contest in which I will make ten game picks each Wednesday and invite you, the loyal Hogs Haven readers, to make your own picks in the comments section.

I will still make my picks each week based on the early lines set in Las Vegas, but instead of picking a winner for every game, I will choose ten games that I feel are the most significant.  The games chosen will always include the nationally televised games, the Redskins games (of course), and then whatever other games I find interesting.   This change is not purely due to my laziness, but laziness did play a large role.

I am not capping the amount of entrants this year, so everyone who comments with their picks after the post goes up (using the games I chose), and enters Rafflecopter will have a chance.

******Note: Going forward, please use your Hogs Haven handle as your first name to make it easier to locate your picks in the comments section.******

Two contestants will be chosen using Rafflecopter.  I will announce the two contestants on Thursday night at 7:30pm on our show "The District" found right here on Hogs Haven and streaming live on WBAD radio.

As I mentioned above, I will incorporate the spread as determined by Las Vegas the Tuesday before the games and you can earn 1 point for each correct choice. The contestant with the best score will be the winner.  Ties will be decided, as usual, by our lovely assistant, who will draw a name out of my favorite, dirty, Redskins hat.

The winner will be announced on the next week's Hump Day Pick'em and earn a fabulous prize, courtesy of NRG, that will then be mailed to them.  Each week the prize will change, and every week a prize will be given out.

Simple right?!?!

Here are my 10 picks for this week:

Washington Redskins (+3.5) at New York Giants: The Giants will rue the day Kirk Cousins read those self-help books in the offseason.  Thursday night revenge is a dish best served Burgundy and Gold (Copyright pending). Pick: Redskins (+3.5)

Philadelphia Eagles (+2.5) at New York Jets: Is it just me, or does Sam Bradford look like that kid you let play quarterback for a series so he wouldn't feel left out in street football.  Pick: Jets (-2.5)

Cincinnati Bengals (+2.5) at Baltimore Ravens: The undefeated Bengals come to Baltimore looking to extend their winning streak.  Kind of reminds me of the time I went to Baltimore looking for a nice apartment. Pick: Ravens (-2.5)

Oakland Raiders (+3.5) at Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel lead the Browns to a thrilling win last week that electrified the city of Cleveland, so naturally he's been benched for Week 3.  Pick: Raiders (+3.5)

Indianapolis Colts (-3.5) at Tennessee Titans: "Out-of-control beard" Andrew Luck has cable.  Regular Andrew Luck is 0-2.  Maybe cable's not so bad.  Pick: Colts (-3.5)

Atlanta Falcons (-2) at Dallas Cowboys: Has 2-0 ever felt worse?  I've been asking Cowboys fans that all week for fun. Pick: Falcons (-2)

Chicago Bears (+15) at Seattle Seahawks: Never put Baby in the corner?  More like never bet against Jimmy Clausen when he's getting 15 on the road. Pick: Bears (+15)

Buffalo Bills (+3) at Miami Dolphins: Tyrod Taylor has become the sexy pick-up in many fantasy leagues because he can beat you with his arm and his feet.  Rex Ryan no doubt agrees.  Pick: Bills (+3)

Denver Broncos (-3.5) at Detroit Lions: I learned two valuable lessons last week: Never mix Doritos and Pepto Bismol and never turn off a Broncos game with less than a minute left.  Pick: Broncos (-3.5)

Kansas City Chiefs (+6.5) at Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers offended some last week when he stated that he thought "God was a Packers' fan tonight".  Not me though, and I only wish he hadn't added the word "tonight" so making picks would be just a little easier the rest of this season.  Pick: Packers (-6.5)

So there are my Week 3 picks. The winner this week will have this fabulous prize to look forward to, courtesy of NRG:

An autographed Pierre Garcon ball!!!!!

That's right - We're giving away a ball autographed by the man who caught a touchdown pass last week, Pierre Garcon!!!!

I will announce this week's two contestants, as chosen by Rafflecopter, on tomorrow night's episode of "The District", and the winner will be announced next Wednesday (hopefully) on the next Hump Day post.

Good luck!!!!
