Washington Redskins vs New York Giants Injury Reports

Long list of injuries for both team's heading into the dreaded short week of Thursday Night Football

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Everyone hates Thursday Night Football games except for Roger Goodell and the Football Cartel. Players hate them, coaches hate them, fans hate them, they're just not good.  Last year's Thursday Night Football experience for the Redskins saw them play the New York GIants on a short week with a lot of injuries piling up. It also saw a disastrous performance from Kirk Cousins that dampened the hope from an impressive performance the previous week in Philadelphia. The NFL Schedule makers have once again pitted the Giants against the Redskins in an early season TNF game this year, and both teams come into tomorrow night's game with a long list of injuries.

Washington has two players that have been ruled out for Thursday's game, not including rookie ILB Martrell Spaight who was placed on season-ending IR this week due to persistent concussion symptoms. WR DeSean Jackson will miss his 2nd straight game due to a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1. Jackson was expected to miss 3-4 weeks with the strain. Cornerback Justin Rogers will miss his second straight game due to a concussion. The Redskins will finally have their top three CBs available for a game with both Chris Culliver and Bashaud Breeland returning from their suspension over the last two weeks.  DeAngelo Hall shows up on the injury report with a rib injury suffered in Week 1, but is expected to play. The Redskins also signed Will Blackmon off the streets last week, and played him over David Amerson who was released this week.

Terrance Plummer was signed from the practice squad before Week 2 due to Spaight's injury, and he will remain on the team since Spaight's season is over. Perry Riley, Jr. injured his hamstring during last week's game and has not been able to practice all week. He is listed as questionable, but is not expected to play with Will Compton replacing him in the starting lineup. The Redskins will be thin at inside linebacker tomorrow night with Plummer as the sole backup from Compton and Keenan Robinson.

The New York Giants have 5 players out(not including Michelangelo Pierre-Paul). WR Victor Cruz is still not ready to return to the field after last year's season-ending injury. Rookie DE Owa Odghizuwa won't be able to make his GIants debut either. Add DT Markus Kuhn and TE Jerome Cunningham to the Out list. The big name for the Giants that has been ruled out is CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie who was not able to pass concussion tests on the short week to be able to play tomorrow night. A big loss for their questionable secondary. Rookie LT Ereck Flowers will likely also miss the game with a knee injury and is listed as doubtful.
