Redskins Promote LB Terrance Plummer From Practice Squad

Redskins hopeful Jordan Reed will play Sunday | ESPN Redskins Blog

Reed tweaked a quad muscle near the end of practice Thursday and was limited again Friday. However, during the portion of practice open to the media, Reed was running routes and catching passes without any issues. On one route, he planted hard to the inside and cut back to the corner of the end zone to haul in a pass (against no defense).

And needed. The Redskins' corners have been in flux all summer, with Chris Culliver now sidelined for a one-game suspension. Bashaud Breeland missed three weeks in camp with a knee injury, then was suspended for the opener. Corner DeAngelo Hall missed time this summer with various injuries and sat out two preseason games. Nickel corner Justin Rogers is now hurt. Safety Duke Ihenacho was lost for the season with a wrist injury in the opener.

Mason and Gurley were full participants at practice this week after missing the season opener against the Seahawks. Mason dealt with a thigh injury, while Gurley was still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season at Georgia. Although the injury sideliend him sidelined during the draft process, Gurley was selected 10th overall and considered one of the best running back prospects to come out of college since Adrian Peterson.

Morris rushed for 121 yards on 25 carries last week, leading an offense that cranked out 161 rushing yards. The Redskins would love to get Morris going again, because a strong rushing attack will keep the pass-rushers off balance and also set up the play-action passing game. However, the Rams do a lot of creative things as they blitz their linebackers through the gaps and set them up for one-on-one opportunities with running backs. Morris ran with power against Miami, and the line also created a lot of holes. However, the challenge will likely intensify this week.

Need to know: Redskins need to make hay while sun is shining | CSN Washington

It's a different story after the Week 8 bye. There are four games against 2014 playoff teams including a visit to the defending champion Patriots right off the bat plus two more against teams that finished with winning record. At this point we don't know how teams will be playing in November and December but that looks like a considerably tougher slate.
