Washington Redskins vs Miami Dolphins Injury Reports

Both teams look healthy going into Sunday's season opener at FedEx Field

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The final injury reports for the week were released yesterday, and both teams are looking healthy heading into Week 1. We went over the list of Redskins players who have already been lost for the season on Wednesday, but the rest of the squad has made it through, and should be ready for the Dolphins.

Jay Gruden said that Tom Compton, who hasn't practiced all week, has been dealing with a calf injury since getting kicked in the calf during the last game.  He is listed as questionable, and would hurt depth at tight end and offensive tackle if he is unable to play. Frank Kearse has been listed on the injury report all week with a shoulder injury but has practiced fully and is expected to play.

Robert Griffin III was listed as limited early in the week, but was able to practice fully yesterday. Team President Bruce Allen made the announcement on WTOP yesterday that Griffin has received his written clearance for the neurologist, and will be available to play tomorrow. That won't happen according to reports that have Griffin listed as the 3rd QB on the roster, behind starter Kirk Cousins and backup Colt McCoy.  Albert Breer reports that Griffin will be given the chance to "earn his way back up the depth chart".

Two players appeared on the practice report for the first time yesterday. Kory Lichtensteiger had a finger injury that is not expected to keep him out of Sunday's game. Jackson Jeffcoat has a thigh injury, but was able to practice fully yesterday. The Redskins will reportedly sign OLB Houston Bates to the 53-man roster today as a precaution.

Two players who are not listed on the injury report, but will be returning from injury are OLB Ryan Kerrigan and WR DeSean Jackson.  Kerrigan had offseason knee surgery and has not played during the preseason. Gruden says they will monitor him during the game and pull him as needed.  Jackson is returning from a shoulder sprain that occurred during training camp, and he will also be monitored during the Dolphins game. Jackson was able to play through a similar injury last season, and has had a month of recovery time.

The Dolphins only have one player listed who is not expected to play on Sunday, OT Jason Fox. Branden Albert and rookie DeVante Parker have both practiced fully all week. Jamar Taylor returned to full practice yesterday, and LaMichael James was listed for the first time all week yesterday with a shoulder injury. All four players are listed as probable and expected to be available for the game.
