Redskins Officially Cut Roster to 75 Players

No surprises in the first round of cuts.

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Redskins had until tomorrow to make the required cuts, but did not wait that long.  Here are the official cut down dates and times again:

Roster cut dates and times

Tuesday, Sept. 1 4 p.m. ET -- Rosters must be trimmed to 75 players from current 90-man limit

Saturday, Sept. 5, 4 p.m. -- Rosters must be trimmed from 75 players to 53-man regular-season limit

Sunday, Sept. 6 -- 10-man practice squads can be formed

There are no real surprises among the cuts.  Willie Smith has been released, which will make many Redskins fans happy. Junior Galette was officially placed on IR after tearing his Achilles in practice last week.  Three tight ends were released, including one that was only recently signed.  Three cornerbacks were also released which leaves the top 3(Chris Culliver, Bashaud Breeland, and DeAngelo Hall) along with David Amerson, Justin Rogers, Deshazor Everett, Quinton Dunbar competing for the last spots.

The next round of cuts happens two days after the Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.  Expect cuts to begin being reported early Friday, and throughout the day.  Who needs to be cut right now?
