Ty signed with the 'Skins on May 11th. With the addition of Brandon Scherff and holdovers like Trent Williams, Morgan Moses, and Tom Compton already on board, will Ty Nsekhe be able to work his way onto the team?
#1. Over the past six years, Ty has been, and played, just about everywhere. He began his professional career in the AF2 (the Arena Football League's developmental league) with the Corpus Christi Sharks. He would then move up to the AFL and play for three different teams (Dallas Vigilantes, Philadelphia Soul, and San Antonio Talons) over the next three years. Shortly thereafter, Nsekhe was signed by the Colts for one month before being dumped and then immediately signed to the Rams active roster after being noticed by HC Jeff Fisher and OC Brian Schottenheimer. Two years later, he was on the Saints for a minute before going to the CFL and joining the Montreal Alouettes. Then, in February of this year, the Redskins signed Ty. Less than three months later, the Redskins released him and he signed on with the Los Angeles KISS of the AFL. Well that didn't even last a week before he was re-signed by the Redskins. And here we are. Phew! He must be exhausted because I'm exhausted just writing all that.
#2. Ty had his share of controversy back in 2013 on Twitter. There was a tweet originally written by Morgan Reed and then retweeted by numerous people that stated, "Hard to believe that a player in a helmet defendin' a football makes more money than a soldier in a helmet defendin' his country." Ty read that and immediately messed up. He responded, "It doesn't take much skill to kill someone." Ouch. Ty has since deleted the tweet and apologized.
#3. Ty's actual first name is Attauyo.
#4.
#5. The Twitter account @TY_Nsekhe is entitled Rapid Dollars and appears to be some sort of scam account with only one tweet ever. It is weird.
Bottom Line: The Redskins OL has been bad in recent years but appears to have improved this off-season. We'll have to wait to see if Ty is part of that improvement... or a victim of it.
