Washington Redskins Player Profiles: Austin Reiter

Reiter was the last addition to the Washington Redskins via the 2015 NFL Draft. Will he make a career for himself?

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Position: Center

Height: 6'3", Weight: 300-310 lbs.

College: South Florida

Drafted: 7th Round, 222nd Overall

#1. Austin has one of the better Twitter handles you'll ever see: @ReitErDie78.

#2. He started South Florida's last 36 straight games and has been Rimington Award (nation's top C) candidate the last two years straight.  He only missed one snap all of last year...

#3. Reiter wasn't invited to the NFL Combine, but he had a pretty impressive Pro Day at South Florida:

  • 40 Yrd Dash: 5.17
  • 20 Yrd Dash: 2.83
  • 10 Yrd Dash: 1.71
  • 40 Time Range: 5.12 - 5.21
  • Vertical Jump: 34
  • Broad Jump: 8'11"
  • 20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.53
  • 3-Cone Drill: 7.65
  • Benched 225 Pounds: 34

#4. When Austin first arrived at South Florida, he only weighed 230 lbs.  Last year he played at 296 lbs. and the year prior he played at ~276 lbs.  He's apparently very good in the weight room and has a lot of experience putting on weight.

#5. He played both OL and DL in HS.

Bottom Line: The Redskins have made a lot of moves to shore up their OL over the past two seasons, especially in the draft (five OL in the last two drafts).  Reiter is certainly a part of that and will have an opportunity to learn from the best OL Coach in the world.  Future Hog?  We shall see...
