Washington Redskins Player Profiles: Kyshoen Jarrett

Jarrett may be a bit undersized, but the Redskins expectations for him shouldn't be.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Position: Safety

Height: 5'10", Weight: 200 lbs.

College: Virginia Tech

Drafted: 6th Round, 181st Overall

Virginia Tech is known for "Beamer Ball," which basically is just a huge emphasis on special teams.  Jarrett fit right in and will hopefully bring that great STs mentality to the 'Skins.  Let's get to know Kyshoen Jarrett.

#1. Kyshoen Jarrett really excelled at the NFL Draft Combine.  He was third amongst safeties in the bench press with 21 reps, fourth in the 3-cone drill at 6.95 seconds, seventh in the 60-yard shuttle at 11.61 seconds, and 10th in the 40-yard dash at 4.57 seconds.  Needless to say, he killed the combine and probably made himself some money that day.  His 40 times at his pro day were even better with a 4.53 and a 4.48.  He has the physical tools.

#2. Jarrett was actually a very highly-touted prep CB before going to VT and making the switch to S.  Against the national-champion Ohio St. Buckeyes, Jarrett had his best collegiate game being named the Nagurski National Defensive Player and ACC co-DB of the Week after his 2 INT, 1 PD, 5 tackle performance.

#3. One of Kyshoen's three brothers, Daishawn, is a legally blind triplegic with cerebral palsy who struggles cognitively and uses a wheelchair.  Their mother, a single parent, worked full-time, so Kyshoen and his other brothers often took care of and looked after their brother Daishawn.

#4. If Jarrett's not a Star Wars fan, he may want to become one.  He was born on May 4th...

#5. Strictly from looking at his Twitter account, Kyshoen seems to be very religious/spiritual:

Bottom Line: Jarrett's future appears to be very bright.  He's a hard worker with impressive character, family values, and spiritual depth.  He's the kind of guy who just loves playing STs and earning his.  He also hits harder than a hammer.
